iPhone 3G - Suck It In

A relative asked me this question: "whats so good about iPhone 3G?" Giving me 101 reasons that iPhone 3G is a lousy phone, there are better phones out there, blah blah blah blah. Yes, I do agree there are some shortcomings for the iPhone 3G but hey… the phone is constantly evolving and I don’t need to explain the good points to him either. I just quote him the FACTS :

1. More than 12 Million iPhones 3G sold world wide

2. More than 1 Billion downloads for the apps (applications)

3. The iPhone technology is 5 years way ahead for any latest phone in the market

3. And lastly, its the De-Facto phone for all phones to follow.

I just can’t believe that there are such people out there in self denial when iPhone 3G is clearly the phone to have for the future.

Enough said.
Suck It In !

By the way, I don’t carry iPhone 3G. Anyone wants to sponsor me? :)

Picture Of The Day - Western Trees

Picture Of The Day

I need to take these pictures for the longest time. Taken at Jurong West area today.
Always wonder why the trees in the Western side of Singapore are different from where I stay in the East?
Almost everywhere you can find pine trees look-alike, ain’t these westernish trees thrive in cold weathers? Hmm…. Reminded me of Europe.

Food Review - Joo Chiat Place Popiah Skin

Went to the well known Popiah Skin supplier at Joo Chiat Place call Kway Guan Huat. They mass produce the skin for walk-in customers and Popiah Sellers. Beside their store, they have a restaurant that sells Popiah buffet and beef noodles.

Besides Popiah skins, they do sell the popiah condiments to complement your customised popiah. Things like black sweet sauce, chilli padi, chopped garlic, peanut powder and fried shallots at a reasonable press so that you don’t need to prepare them. PASS.
They also do sell kueh pie tee in a cyclinder container, do note its not cheap. FAIL.

As for the skin, its just your normal standard popiah skin you find in the foodcourt and hawker centre. PASS.

Did You Know?

A popiah "skin" is a soft, thin paper-like crepe or pancake made from wheat flour which is eaten in accompaniment with a sweet sauce (often a bean sauce, a blended soy sauce or hoisin sauce or a shrimp paste sauce (hae-ko), and optionally with hot chilli sauce before it is filled. The filling is mainly finely grated and steamed or stir-fried turnip, jicama (known locally as bangkuang), which has been cooked with a combination of other ingredients such as bean sprouts, French beans, and lettuce leaves, depending on the individual vendor, along with grated carrots, slices of Chinese sausage, thinly sliced fried tofu, chopped peanuts or peanut powder, fried shallots, and shredded omelette.

Food Review - Goodwood Hotel Durian Roll

Went for another round of Durian pastry from Goodwood Hotel at Scotts Road. This time we bought the Durian Roll which is cheaper than the Durian Strudel. At first glance its looks huge and its best serve chilled. Now the durian paste is pure heaven, authetic and undiluted, creamy and thick. Soft pastry roll with sugar icing on the top. Worth every bite. GOOD.

Alternate Morning Booster

Its been 30 days (and counting) since I last had a cup of coffee. Quite an achievement for me as I am a black coffee addict. The last time I went into coffee "cold turkey" was when I am preparing for my IPPT (Individual Physical Proficiency Test) 2 years back. This time is for health reason as I try to avoid GERD. Nothing serious as its just changing of diet. So I have been finding alternate morning fix to keep me sane very day.

So what is my morning secret booster?

NOPE. Its not Starbucks Black Coffee.

Its Essence of Chicken with Cordyceps.
I don’t go for the expensive ones like BRANDS which is not value for money. Bought these at a local supermarket at about S$1.10 per bottle and it comes in promotion packs. Anyway the nutritional values are the same as BRANDS, you are just paying for the elabrate packaging.
For your infor, its been my 31st bottle (every morning I will drink 1 bottle) and I can tell you that I always feel great every morning. Took it hot (add hot water) with my sandwich before I leave the house. It makes my body relaxed and somehow I feel very energetic before I start my daily fruit selling.

If you are intending to give up your caffeine, do try Essence of Chicken, if you can go for the one with Cordyceps. :)

Did you know?
Cordyceps sinensis is a traditional and precious dried Chinese Medicinal herb belonging to the fungus category. It is a peculiar fungus that grows on certain caterpillars native to the high mountains of China, thus it is also known as “caterpillar mushroom”. In Chinese, it is called “Dong Chong Xia Cao” or “winter worm summer grass” as it is actually a fungus in the winter, which turns into herb in the summer. It is naturally found in the highlands of China, Tibet and Nepal above 10,000 feet. The fruiting bodies have long been used to enhance endurance and speed recovery from exhaustion. Cordyceps Sinensis is a tonic that is good for bodily nourishment and for stimulating brain activity.

In Traditional Chinese medicine, Cordyceps is believed to strengthen the "Qi" or the vital energy that flows through the body, therefore boosting the body’s resistance to illness. Cordyceps is said to help regulate the respiratory system, and is believed to especially beneficial to the lungs, treating colds, coughs, shortness of breath, and childhood asthma. It’s also traditionally used to combat night sweats and aches and pains.

As a respiratory tonic, Cordyceps caught public attention in 1993 when a group of Chinese athletes who have supplemented their diet with Cordyceps, broke the world records in the 10,000m, 3,000m and 1,500m events at the World Outdoor Track and Field Championships in German. The use of Cordyceps by these athletes to increase endurance may partly owe to its relaxing effects on the airways.

Essence of Chicken helps to relieve tiredness and to restore both your mental and physical energy, by increasing your metabolic rate. When taken regularly, the nourishing goodness of the Chicken essence also helps to maintain your body’s health.
