Food Review - Goodwood Hotel Durian Strudel
A strudel is a type of sweet layered pastry with a filling inside, originated from Europe. Most common ones you can find are the Apple strudels in the pastry market. But how about Durian Strudel? Well, that you can only find it in Singapore. Singaporeans are so passionate about durians that you see any kind and every kind of durian related pastry. Unfortunately most westerns and caucasians can’t stomach durians very well.
Had the privilege to try the well known Durian Strudel from Goodwood Hotel at Scotts Road. The hotel are famous for their Durian pastry concept like Durian puffs, durian cake, etc…
Don’t expect this strudel to be cheap as it holds a premium value to it. Looks thick and wholesome at first glance. Once you bite on it you will taste crust and flakes. The durian paste wasn’t strong, feels like its diluted with additional cream (whip cream?). PASS.
Overall it was mildly statisfactory. With that kind of price tag, I will not bother consider buying it again. I am sure there are better Durian Strudels out there in the market. Coming back again … NO.
